Poor Snow White...!

This work is just so incredible ... The first time I've seen it, I could easily feel as if I was in this scene, with Snow White. I was speechless, and really impressed that this work could be such expressive by a minimal way of colorization (for example, I have the feeling to see the exact expression of the raven's eye attacking Snow White, whereas there are not so much details on it). The expression of Snow White is also so captivating, and these red ink spots really look like blood, predicting the death of the poor young woman. Thank you so much for this great piece of art Katherine ! And congratulations

Garden of Ruins

This painting represents two opposite things for me: the life with the red flowers, and the death with the angel and these falling leaves. The blur side of these ones makes this scene more alive again, I could be able to hear the melancholic song of the slight wind. This angel is for me like a guardian of lost memories, and represents perfectly the melancholy and the nostalgia. Thank you for this emotional work dear Maria

Bloody Melancholy

What really caught my attention here is the intensity of the red, which reminds perfectly the vivid blood color. Here also we can see a contrast between the death and the life, with this plant growing in the middle of a skull. The cemetery is a perfect place to represent the melancholy I think, and I must say I love the composition of this work. I don't know who is this girl, but I imagine her like a ghost of a young girl deceased too early ... A spirit which kept the joyful of living of this missed poor child. Thank you for this stunning work Damien !

You can create a traditional drawing, a digital one, or a photomanipulation.

1 entry per member.

NO dA watermark ... This really spoils the pleasure to see the artwork. If you want sign your art, no problem, but something as discrete as possible, not in the middle of the image ... (and if you REALLY want to put a dA watermark, I'll ask you to send me the version without it by mail).

I named this contest "Bloody Melancholy" because I really love creations in grey and red. So the big challenge here will be to create a work using:

Grey as major color of the work

Red as second important color

White and Black can be used for skin, hair and other details. But they musn't be more visible than grey and red color.

As the title of this contest said, we must feel melancholic when we look at your work.

As always, I like so much creativity, original ideas ... So don't hesitate to do something crazy if it inspires you .
